Feed in braids are a popular protective style. As the name suggests, this style is created with hair extensions which are fed into each braid starting near the roots to add length, thickness, and sometimes color to the wearer’s natural hair.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to do feed in braids without using braiding hair on short 4c natural hair.

The hair she used in this tutorial is BetterLength 18″ Kinky Coarse clip ins.

Step One

Start off on a stretch hair.

Step Two

Take your wide tooth comb and part this section in the one section that you already sectioned off.

Step Three

Take the 3 clips clip-in and then have that hanging down.

Step Four

Part another section with your wide tooth comb, then go to apply a four clips clip-in, apply that regular going downward not upside down.

Step Five

Put a little section in the front and apply a 2 clips clip-in, put that right up front.

Step Six

Start braiding at the front.

Continue to braid down, making sure you’re smoothing the hair at the top into the braid and also smoothing the hair on the side of your head into the braids as well. And just make sure that your clip-ins are not showing.

Step Seven

While you’re braiding you may need to detangle your hair, because you’re braiding the hair sometimes it’s kind of tangles up on each other.

Continue to braid down making sure that you’re smoothing your hair and that way it is getting into the braid.

Braid all the way down to the bottom.

Step Eight

Go ahead and repeat the same steps on the other side of your head.

When you get to the bottom of your head at your nape you want to make sure you kind of leave that a little bit loose because you definitely don’t want to pull out your hair at your knee.

Step Nine

Apply some clear elastics to the end of braids, just to make sure they don’t unravel.

Step Ten

Take the got 2b glued spray, spray some of it in your hand and then lay it on the top of your head over your flyaway so they’ll stay in place.

Take some eco styler gel and some edge control, and then lay down your edges.

Wear your scarf and then leave that on for about 10 to 15 minutes.
